Globally, financial institutions earn a significant proportion of the income through the generation of risk assets. Risk assets are by their nature of high income earning potential. However, by their mandate, financial institutions are also exposed to various risks which can have negative impact on the sustainability of the institutions. It is therefore, pertinent, that individuals with the responsibilities of managing the credit value chain are sufficiently equipped with required skill to perform their roles. This programme is designed for professionals involved in lending to customers in various market segments, and focuses on the essential methodologies, tools, concepts and information sources required to effectively evaluate loan requests and a borrower's ability to service debt.

Target Participants

The course has been designed for credit risk officers, responsible for diverse customer portfolios. This includes credit professionals responsible for such functions as credit risk management, credit policies and procedures, risk assessment, credit approval, loan administration/ monitoring, and collections and workouts, as well as those being prepared for these roles in the near to medium term.


At the end of the course, participants should be able to effectively:

Explain the methods and tools for conducting financial analysis in various market segements
Outline  the underlying risk associated with various lending relationships
Interpret techniques for assessing replayment capability and capacity
Illustrate the nature of Lending contract and documentation and the appropriate use of security and convenants to support a higher level of primary bank debt finance
List the key issues and likely wrning signals of a borrower in distress

Payment of Fees

Refund of Fees

Fees paid for participants who do not turn up eventually would be refunded, subject to deduction of 25% administrative cost.
