The Nigerian Banking system has remained a very high impact segment of the nation’s economy, responsible for financial intermediation and stimulating economic growth, among others. In view of the industry’s pivotal role in the economy and the critical development expectations for Nigeria, a lot is expected by all stakeholders, in terms of how the industry can contribute towards transforming the national economy, to ensure economic progress and development.
FITC was established in 1981, as a special purpose not-for-profit professional services organization to provide professional services support in training, consulting and research to the financial services sector and related sectors of the Nigerian economy. Its membership, being the member institutions of the Nigerian Bankers Committee, FITC’s mandate has over the past three and half decades, positioned it as a reference professional services firm in matters relating to the acquisition, management and development of human capital for the operators and regulators in the Nigerian financial system. FITC supports institutional capacity enhancement and policy advocacy.
In view of FITC’s mandate and as part of its role of promoting and advancing knowledge of as well as practice of banking and finance, FITC is pleased to introduce its inaugural Thought Leadership Discussion Series, an event which will be an annual, non-fee paying intellectual gathering that will address issues relating to the Financial Services Sector, as pivotal to economic growth.
This maiden edition will bring together high ranking personalities, including regulators, policy makers, key players and operators in the Nigerian banking industry and within the Financial Services Sector, where industry and systemic issues will be discussed by recognised subject matter experts for possible policy updates and innovation for improvement.
