Techathon Guidelines

General Guidelines

  1. Teams: Participants are encouraged to form interdisciplinary teams to foster diverse perspectives and expertise.
  2. Ethical Considerations: Ethical and responsible innovation is emphasized, considering the social and environmental impacts of the solutions.
  3. Open Source: Open-source development is encouraged, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  4. Mentorship: Mentors are provided for guidance and networking, to ensure the impact and relevance of solutions.
  5. Judging Criteria: A clear criteria for judging is provided.
  6. Prizes (Tentative)First Position Prize: N2,500,000Second Position Prize: N1,500,000, Third Position: N1,000,000

Other consolation prizes: Most innovative idea: N400,000 Top 10 participants: N100,000 each, Free attendance to the FITC School of Cybersecurity for the top 10 participants worth N200,000/person, networking opportunities, swags, community engagements, etc.

Submission & Assessment Process

  1. Project Proposal: Teams should submit project proposals on the Techathon website, outlining their idea, goals, and approach. Those without teams can apply as individuals, who will ultimately be paired later.​​
  2. Development Phase: Techathon participants have 7 days to work on their projects. These projects will be forked from the forked Github repository, and will determine ultimate submission, tracking and assessment.
  3. Presentation to Judges: Each team will give a 10-minute presentation of their solutions to judges and fellow participants. Be creative but the presentation must include Problem Statement, Solution & Impact.
  4. Demo and Documentation: Along with the presentation, teams should provide a working demo of their solution and comprehensive documentation.
