FITC was established in 1981 as a Limited by Guarantee not for profit professional services organisation, based on the Company’s Act of 1968. It was created in response to the recommendations of the Pius Okigbo Committee, which was set-up by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1976, to review the Nigerian financial system. FITC’s Institutional Members are members of the Nigerian Banker’s Committee, comprises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and all licensed banks in Nigeria.

Alaba Ekundayo is the Head of Corporate Services & Company Secretary of FITC, responsible for Corporate Secretariat Administration, Legal Advisory and Compliance, Governance and Stakeholders Management. Prior to becoming the Company Secretary in 2015, he served as Special Assistant to the MD/CEO and Head of Corporate Communications.
Alaba has over two decades of working experience in several private organisations, with exposures in Consulting, Investment, Strategy Development and Implementation, Enterprise Management, SMEs Administration, Economic Research, Project Management and Corporate Communications.
Alaba holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and MBA from University of Ibadan and University of Lagos respectively. He belongs to several local and foreign professional associations. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Fellow, Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals, Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations of Nigeria and FAA Certified Training Professional, among others. He has participated in the delivery of several Learning & Development programmes and Advisory projects in FITC.
